Art Talk on Sustainable Curating with Solvej Helweg Ovesen

Bio:
Solvej Helweg Ovesen (b. 1974, Denmark) is a curator and cultural studies theoretician. She is currently the Artistic Director of the communal Galerie Wedding-Space for Contemporary Art, Berlin, Germany - until 2018 together with Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung - where the two year long exhibition programmes »Post-Otherness Wedding« (2015-16) and “Unsustainable Privileges” (2017-18) was on view. The current program is titled “Existing Otherwise” and co-curated by choreographer and performance artist Isabel Lewis. She was member of the curatorial Consortium behind the Danish Pavilion representing Kirstine Roepstorff at La Biennale di Venezia - 57th International Art Exhibition. In 2018 she was associate curator of the first Riga biennale of contemporary art (RIBOCA) with the title »Everything was forever, until it was no more«. In 2020 she founded the curating course for Berlin-based curators working for the city of Berlin “CURARE”. In 2022 she co-curated “Existing Otherwise - the Future of Coexistence” with Isabel Lewis and Ibrahim Mahama.
